Demon Lives Matter

Hi all. It’s been a while. For that I am truly sorry. If the pandemic taught me anything it’s that I get distracted far too easily. Turns out developing ADHD late in life is a thing and I have it. Good times were not had by all.

With that out of the way I want to say a recent comment (well…from December but I only just saw it because…see above paragraph) pointed out that I don’t do enough movie reviews. There are…37 ”Amityville” movies out there. I put that in quotes because many of them just slapped the name on the title to get some late night clicks. I don’t want to see those, and it bugs me that you can record a video of your dog taking a shit, call it “The Amityville Bowels” and someone will watch it.

Upon looking back over my posts over the years I realized that despite being literally obsessed with all things Amitville since I was a lanky teenager I have not posted any reviews of the films made prior to the 2005 remake and THAT is a crime. So, this weekend I am going to rewatch the series from the beginning and post about it. I haven’t seen the 1979 film in a couple of years so it will be nice to revisit it. Then I’ll keep moving forward through the timeline until I catch up.

However, if I start watching one of those movies and it becomes clear it is Amityville in name only, it’s going in the trash heap and I will notate it accordingly on my movies page.

I can’t begin this quest again without mentioning the efforts of the YouTube channel Rotted Reviews. He has reviewed every Amityville and Amityville adjacent film on his channel and they are worth a watch.

There are also many of the books that I have not gotten around to rereading and reviewing. Thankfully there are not nearly as many of those.

Hope you’ll come along for the ride.
